im going to be 21 next month and my mom is 46. she told me today that shes getting married next july. she asked me to be the maid of honor. well, ive never been to a wedding before and i don’t know anything about them. what exactly is the maid of honor supposed to do?
maid of honor takes care of all of the "little things" in preparation to the big day. She sets up and hosts the bacholorette party, she organzises the bridal shower. The maid of honor is on hand to help the bride pick out dresses, cake, flowers, everything pertaining to the ceremony. She makes sure invitations are sent out on time, makes sure all arrangements for the wedding are completed and last but not least makes sure the bride gets to the wedding and down the aisle.

How do I choose my maid of honor? Is it okay to have two?

I have only two candidates for my bridesmaids/maid of honor – my mother and my sister. I’m not sure who should be my maid of honor, or how to choose. Is it okay if I name them both as my maids of honor?
You can certainly choose both to be the maids of honor, and on the program list both.
But I’m telling you that in all the photos that you will have, only ONE will be in the maid of honor position. Only ONE will be at your immediate side when you’re at the altar.
Forever when people are looking at your wedding album, they will say, "Oh this is your Maid of Honor. What is her name?"
And forever you will have to correct them and say, "Both of these girls were my Maids of Honor."
Not all women would care about stuff like that, but some will be hurt by being in the "2nd" place position even though she has the title of Maid of Honor.
Choose wisely.

What color of eyeshadow would go with a white maid of honor dress?

My best friend is getting married this weekend and I am the maid of honor. I am going to wear a white dress but I do not know what color of eyeshadow goes good. I have fair skin, dirty blonde hair, and green eyes. Any suggestions are welcomed.
BUTTTT what the heck???? The only person that should be dressed in white is THE BRIDE. Any person that suggests otherwise is completely selfish. Besides, in your case, white is not a color that suits you as others…as you are white.
You can wear almost any eyeshadow, the most beautiful are shimmering Violet and lavender.

Can a non Catholic be maid of honor in a Catholic wedding?

I am supposed to be maid of honor, but the bride to be was asked if the best man and I have been confirmed. She was also told that the wedding party must kneel and recieve communion. Would it be inappropriate for me to be maid of honor when I do not practice religion?
You’re fine. Bride’s choice, after all. You’re not the one getting married, so there’s nothing that prohibits you from simply being at the wedding, even in a capacity like maid of honor.
On a side note, though, out of respect, when it’s time for Communion, you should cross your arms across your chest to signify to the priest that you’re not a practicing Catholic, so that he’ll pass you rather than give you a Communion wafer. You shouldn’t recieve Communion if you’re not even a Christian, much less not a confirmed Catholic. The priest will appreciate this gesture, trust me.

should the maid of honor wear a different dress than the other bridesmaids?

i am not sure if i should get my maid of honor to wear the same of different dress as my bridesmaids. i am not sure how it goes.
It’s up to you- but for my wedding I want my maid of honor to have a different dress, different color & all. I want her to stand out and people to know she’s my maid of honor, she’s special. So basically like if my colors are pink & brown- I would have my bridesmaids wear pink & her wear brown (with pink details in it) or something like that
