do you have any wedding toast tips for maid of honor?

July 27, 2010

My maid of honor needs a little help with her wedding toast. I’m having toast instead of speeches, so that my wedding party isn’t up talking too long. Do you have a tips for her? Thank you

Crucial – keep it short! It will make it much easier on her and the guests.

I gave an MOH toast a couple of weeks ago. I described the moment when I knew the bride and groom were right for each other. I decided to go with sweet instead of trying to crack jokes.

Practice, practice, practice. I did the toast for my boyfriend, for the other bridesmaids, and about 50 times in front of my mirror – and I was still nervous!

Maid of Honor Speech?

July 24, 2010

What’s the most creative/most touching or best Maid/Matron of Honor Speech (toast) that you’ve ever heard?

It would have to be at my cousin’s wedding. Her MOH was her friend since birth.

"Growing up Nancy was a great friend and a great best friend. As we grew older things changed, I moved to Florida from Connecticut when I was 13 and Nancy and Kale were the ones that convinced my parents to let me move back in with my aunt. Kale and Nancy have been there for me for years. Now that the time has come for Nancy and Kale to face the world together, Nancy can no longer be my best friend. So this is to Kale, my new best friend. May your lives be filled with happiness and may there never be a day when you regret getting married on this beautiful day. May the two of you have that baby and be happy together. And Kale when she makes you nuts, call me. To Kale and Nancy!"

It was so touching everyone (even the men!) were crying.

Does the maid of honor have to give a toast at the wedding?

July 22, 2010

I am the maid of honor in a wedding and I’m just wondering if it is required for the maid of honor to give a toast at the reception? I have been to weddings where it’s been done and others where it was just the best man. The groom is very close with all his groomsman – when one of them got married last year they actually flipped a coin the day of the wedding to see who would serve as best man. Apparently, all the guys gave a toast, as did the maid of honor (the bride’s only attendant – so basically the whole wedding party toasted them). My bride has 4 bridemaids so will it be too much for 5 people to give toasts? I think so, but I’m just wondering everyone’s opinion.

Thanks!
Maybe I should add that public speaking is not my strong point, haha. Besides that, I have no idea what I’d say! I was thinking that instead of giving a speech, I would write them a letter. I don’t know – I just don’t want to be up in front of a bunch of people b/c I’ll make a fool of myself!
No, she hasn’t said anything about it. I don’t know if she’s leaving it up to me or if she’s assuming I will. Next time I talk to her I’ll just let her know that I’m not crazy about speaking in front of large crowds. And hopefully she’ll understand.

i have seen it done a number of times, but i have seen weddings with out a MOH speech. it really is up to the bride and the MOH. if you do not like speaking in front of crowds, then i would not. but i think it adds a sweet touch on the day. :) i have always liked the speeches (with the exception of the 25 minute one i had to endure once).

but i do not think every bridesmaid or groomsmen needs to give a speech. that might take a little too long. one or two of each will be fine.

Maid of Honor speech/toast?

July 19, 2010

Does this sound ok? I’ve known the bride for years, but we haven’t been "close" friends so I don’t really have any fond memories..

Good evening everyone. For those of you who do not know me, my name is Megan and I have the honor and privelage of being the maid of honor. I met (bride) in 4th grade and we’ve been friends ever since. I’ve noticed that both (groom) and (bride) have strong faith in their families, friends, and God, which is a great foundation to build a marriage onto. I wish you both nothing but the best. Ladies and Gentlemen, I’d like to offer a toast: To (groom) & (bride), and a wonderful life together!

doesn’t seem like quite enough
can you think of an example of when they showed they have strong faith in these things?
how have you known her since 4th grade and not made a memory or two?
anyway…i’d add some detail, but it sounds good so far :)

Like the other wedding vid, it’s only funny or relevant if you know our friends… sorry. For those visiting or trying to reconnect with us, it’s a nice insight into the people weve surrounded ourselves with over the last many years.

BEST ‘MAID of HONOR’ TOAST?!?

July 16, 2010

My Best Friend is getting married in 2 weeks & I need ideas on a good Toast for her Bridal/Bachalorette Party & for the Wedding Reception.
I want something sentimental,loving etc…
We also have a great sense of humor that could possibly be thrown in.
The Bride is like a sister to me & was my "maid of honor‘ in our Wedding last year in which she caught our Wedding Bouquet!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
*****THANK YOU!*****

"May you married day be many, and your wedding days be few!"
